Stephen parmentier and christofle in new york

The French brand Christofle continues to expand into the American market: the second boutique of the brand has opened in New York. It is located in the West Village quarter on Bleeker Street, the street that inspired Jackson Pollock, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix in his time, and this is the first store surrounded by decor items. For the interior was responsible art director Christofle designer Stefan Parmentier (Stéphane Parmentier).

Parmentier, who turns 50 this year, started in the fashion industry. In the 80s and 90s he worked for Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin, Givenchy, Montana, and then launched his own ready-to-wear line. After that, as it often happens with fashion designers, he has mastered a new field - he became interested in the interior and in 2000 he founded his own design bureau. Since then, Parmentier has designed many apartments and mansions from Paris to Miami, which are mainly equipped with furniture of his own design. He himself calls his style "a mixture of false simplicity and calm luxury", and critics and glossy magazines admire his "purely French elegance." Stefan’s service record includes collaboration with Hermès, Orange and Ormond Editions, as well as Singapore Airlines, for which he designed business-class showrooms.

Shelves are made in the form of hexagons. Bee Honeycomb is reminiscent of the Christofle brand emblem, a bee.

As in the flagship on Madison Avenue, the space is sustained in muted tones, where soft cream and gray-beige shades are organically combined with elements of dark wood and silver polished to a mirror finish. The shelves are made in the form of hexagons - the form of honeycombs reminds of a bee, the emblem of Christofle from the middle of the XIX century.

The interior is designed in soothing cream and gray-beige tones with accents of dark wood.

A special place here is devoted to accessories and gifts, among which are photo frames, candles, accessories for a desk and gifts for newborns. The boutique also presents legendary brand cutlery, dishes and unique handmade subscription items.

LED lighting around the perimeter of the shelves emphasizes the luxury of Christofle serving items.

Since 2013, Parmantier has been working as art director for Christofle, a brand associated primarily with refined silverware. In parallel, he continues to lead the design bureau he created. According to Parmentier himself, Christofle is a brand of opposites, in which tradition and modernity coexist. In the same way, the new boutique in the bohemian West Village is at the same time the addition and opposition of the flagship on the wealthy Upper East Side.
