The ornament has long been used to decorate architectural structures, various household items and even the human body. Now psychedelic and abstract geometric patterns are especially popular.

The term "psychedelic" came into use in the mid-twentieth century, when there was a fashion for everything that stirs the imagination. The desire to create an unusual interior, allowing you to plunge into the depths of consciousness, prompted designers to turn to the elements of psychedelic decor - the play of light and shadow, unusual color solutions. But the most popular was the use in the interior of patterns based on rhythmic alternation and a combination of geometric elements - psychedelic ornaments. With the help of their construction or color combination, designers emphasize the architecture of the room or focus on finishing materials. The most relevant now are wallpapers and fabrics, in the ornament of which there is a square, a triangle, a circle or straight lines creating the effect of a maze. Such fabrics are used not only for curtains, but also for furniture upholstery. Carpets with unexpected patterns from the 60s and 70s often become the defiant elements of the interior. A strong impression is made by the furniture, which merges with the wall pattern. A milder manifestation of psychedelics in the interior can be considered the style of pop art: a riot of colors, large pattern, chaotic scattering of peas, spirals, all sorts of stripes ...
