The interior of this country house in Zavidovo has a lot of typical “sea” decoration details. What was the reason for their appearance? Our questions are answered by Sergey Barabadze

Gulya Akhmetshina: “This house is the alter ego of its owner. He loves the sea, sea travel. But always remembers those who are waiting on the shore. Or even travel with them. ”
Sergey Barabadze: “Well, let's say you have a sports car. You enjoyed the speed, got out of it — and then what? You need something else. In changing the speed, the rhythm of his life. And all this can give you your interior. Not necessarily the same as this one. Maybe not at all about the sea. But your own
Sergey, where does this bright marine aesthetics come from in this interior? —This is the preference of the head of the family, the owner of the house. Although not, the word “preferences” too generally describes his love for the sea, for traveling by water. I come from Batumi, a city – port, and there such people are called “sea lovers”. This word has an absolutely positive connotation, it is applied only to gifted, in its own way even outstanding people who have managed to selflessly love the sea.
SALON: Where did you find such a customer? —He appeared after the publication of one of our objects in your journal. We asked what he wants. “I want a wooden house, a sea, a yacht, a lighthouse,” something like this was the answer. At that time he already had a plot in Zavidovo, a house was being built, there was his own yacht. Remember: "Moscow is a port of five seas"? Next to Zavidov — the Moscow Sea, the Ivankovo Reservoir ... Did we have a choice? Only the interior, in which the maritime theme would be read, would be viewed a certain story.
S: Very interesting. Which one? —History of life, history of a hobby. It has its origin from afar: when the owner of the house was ten years old, he and his parents first rafted down the river on a raft, and this was the strongest impression of his childhood. Now he controls his own yacht. An interesting story is the appearance in this interior of a large existing model of a lighthouse. Initially, the owner wanted to build a real lighthouse on the site, but we persuaded him to put the model of the lighthouse in the house. This unusual detail makes the interior look like no other and sets the theme of the sea, the theme of “big water”. In general, the maritime theme is present everywhere — somewhere explicitly, somewhere implicitly. A ship's rope is wound on the basis of the attached table. In the chest there is an element of "walking." In the interior, a tree of dark brown tones adjoins with white painted details. Merbau, mahogany, teak — a tree of dark brown color is typical for the decoration of old ships; Many manufacturers still paint the interiors of ships in such colors. What else? Planker, wall decoration with a chamfer board, which also carry a large aesthetic load. Let us recall the very principle of building a ship: it is a kind of “skeleton”, a kind of skeleton with side “edges”, which is then sheathed with a board. And here the decor of the walls and ceilings is associated with just such a covering of the vessel. Ceilings caissoned layout. Brown and white is a contrasting scale, and at the same time fresh, open. It is associated with freshness, air — all that we, in fact, want from boat trips.
S: And pale turquoise, aqua, is also a tribute to maritime associations? - Perfectly right. In this color we decided the kitchen. Another strip (for example, in the rhythm of the staircase fence, on the curtains in the kitchen) - this is also a tribute to the marine theme. This again creates a feeling of freshness, openness.
S: What are the features of the layout? —There is a certain vector: a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, a study, a recreation area — all on one line. The look penetrates all this space and “goes out” into the window. In this, too, there is something marine, as if the ship sails to the horizon. We tried to convey the feeling of the view from the water to the land, the novelty of this sensation. The house has large wooden windows, as if we are at sea, in the sun — somewhere on the open deck ... Another theme of this house is traditional country music. This style makes a certain comfort. In our interior history, the “vessel” is still not military, but passenger. Cosiness — visual and tactile — must be present. And also, in order not to create a feeling of excessive brutality, we added sofas and armchairs of soft, rounded shapes. If the interior is positive, it will act on the owners constantly. And the maritime theme itself is very positive. By the way, the owner has preserved old children's photos of that journey on rafts, and others. Here, I think it would be good to look through the family album more closely, hang something from the photos. It will cheer up.
