Patricia Urquiola moved from large to small forms: in 2016 she designed the Laufen Bathrooms showroom in Madrid, and now she has developed Sonar sanitary ware. Sinks and bathtubs are made from the patented SaphirKeramik material. It is based on the organic mineral "corundum" - one of the alloys of aluminum.

Due to its special strength, it is possible to create objects with unusually thin edges, giving them clear geometric shapes. The thin walls of the Sonar models are decorated with a relief pattern, inspired by the phenomenon of the sound wave and its interaction with water. Functional internal projections and inclined planes are also perceived as an element of decor.

Dutchman Marcel Wanders often used Laufen plumbing in his interior projects. And in 2018 he became the author of a new collection, also exploring the possibilities of SaphirKeramik. The Wanders project is described as versatile and detailed, this is “an interpretation of the classics in a modern manner” for cosmopolitan with “bohemian” tastes, which itself has a chance to become a Laufen classic.
