Charles tassin: french 70s at gallery may

Paris Gallery May - a project of artist Melis Keir (Maylis Queyrat) and Charles Tassin. In his work, interior designer Charles Tassin is inspired by the atmosphere of the 70s with its lightness, bohemian and expressive textures, connecting it with the time-tested neoclassical style of the 1940s.

Without copying the models of the 70s, he opens them again: combines traditional techniques and manual work with quite modern techniques. Furniture on its design is decorated with marquetry, covered with glossy varnish, complemented with accessories from painted ceramics.

Tassin shows strong attachment to the 20th century. A connoisseur of arts and crafts, he restructures spaces, changes perspectives, respecting the history of places. His attention to light, texture and detail, as well as a keen sense of luxury and a certain lifestyle, keeps him from today's minimalism.

The ease of the bourgeois 1970s is a warm golden, peach-pink, greenish and mustard color, they serve as a backdrop for objects created by Tassin and young artists and sculptors.
