The legendary sofa Togo (Ligne Roset), without which modern design is unthinkable, is 40 years old. On the main milestones of the “life” of the masterpiece are the brothers Pierre and Michel Rosé

Pierre Rose: “A sofa cushion filled with polyurethane, upholstered in leather or textiles, with cute, like a Shar-Pei, folds, was invented in the early 1970s by Michel DuCare. The sofa immediately “thundered”: at the Salon Des Arts Menagers exhibition in 1973, he received the prestigious Rene Gabriel Award, which was awarded for “innovative and democratic furniture”. Michel Rosé: “At first, he was appreciated by the Parisian bohemians, behind her by Hollywood stars, and in no time the sofa without legs became a symbol of modern design and a living legend. And in this capacity, a welcome guest in luxury interiors. This is one of the paradoxes of the modern era: a thing conceived as democratic turns out to be a masterpiece, it ends up in museums, in the houses of connoisseurs and, finally, in history. ”
