Паоло ПининфаринаThe famous car designer and president of Pininfarina, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, works for Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce. Rarely and exclusively he collaborates with furniture companies.

Паоло Пининфарина (Paolo Pininfarina) designs private jets, luxury yachts, stadiums (the recent work is the Juventus football stadium in Turin), creates interiors of boutique hotels and futuristic office furniture. We met in Milan at the Eurocucina 2010 exhibition, where the designer presented conceptual cuisines he created for an Italian factory SNAIDERO.

SALON: Your main profile is automotive design. Does this affect the kitchen design?

 - Yes of course. So, for example, the Ola kitchen is like a sports car in an unusual “body”: smooth, curved lines of facades and a bright color palette in the disco style. In the early 1990s, she made a real revolution.

S: New this year - Ola 20 - restyling of this famous model?

 - Yes, so we SNAIDERO decided to “congratulate” the beloved offspring on the 20th anniversary. A new perception received primarily the design of the island kitchen. He became more expressive: a sculpted leg appeared, resembling an art object. For coatings, a lacquer based on powder mica was used: due to its constituent crystals, it reflects light; depending on the lighting, the color of the surface also changes. We have upgraded another model. SNAIDERO - Idea's kitchen: in Idea 2010, a lot of fashionable glass is now (for example, an oval hood comes in black glass).

S: Have there been any unusual projects in your practice that surprised you yourself?

 - Perhaps the torch and medals for the 2006 Winter Olympics. It was a very non-standard task. I am "omnivorous": I am interested in technology, interiors, and piece things. There is creative development in diversity.
