Pure minimalism is not in fashion now. The strict geometry of the walls is softened by smooth lines of furniture, soft lighting and unusual decor. Such a compromise approach helped the architect Dmitry Shumidub to reconcile in the interior the spirit of oriental austerity with the European idea of comfort. Just enter the hallway, as a large living room opens before your eyes. So literally from the threshold emerges the image of a truly masculine apartment. The main task in its redevelopment was the creation of a single space. In place of the figured loggia, which was previously separated from the living room by a wall, a winter garden on the podium grew. Thanks to a special reception, the long wall between the living room and the kitchen ceased to be an obstacle; on the contrary, it visually linked both rooms. The architect expanded it from the hallway, setting the direction to about 15 degrees. I made a niche in the wall for its entire length, which I designed with glass, mirrors and contour lighting. The niche, thanks to the deceptive reflection in the mirrors, seems to be open through. Due to such an unusual decision, it was possible to avoid the precise geometry of the living room, to expand the perspective, to give a feeling of infinity. The apartment looks more spacious than it was. The minimalistic severity of scanty geometric shapes is softened by the light and decor. In all rooms, there is a play of light and shade due to the use of various lighting: illuminated cornices in the living room, square niche-caissons on the ceiling in the hallway, kitchen and bathroom, small spotlights on the wall in the living room, flowers in the winter garden, and wardrobe doors in the bedroom , as well as sconce and contour lighting headboard. A single chandelier fell to the table, highlighting the dining area in the kitchen. Warmth and softness gives the rooms a different finish: textured plaster, silk wallpaper in the bedroom. The windows of the living room and kitchen draped with flowing curtains. The apartment turned out to be a mysterious evening and sunny day due to the large glazing area and natural light.Dmitry Shumidub: "In the work on the apartment, I was repelled by the identity of the customer. This is a male interior, in which everything is functional, modern and without any special excesses. Nevertheless, this is not quite minimalism, rather, I would define it as luxurious asceticism."
