Uk's best restaurant

В октябре 2017 лондонский ресторан Fucina получил престижную международную премию Restaurant & Bar Design Awards в категории «Лучший ресторан в Великобритании». Его интерьер оформил австралийский архитектор Энди Мартин (Andy Martin) и его студия.

Fucina is a restaurant with 110 seats with an emphasis on “honest cuisine”: here they use organic products and traditional cooking technologies, take into account the principles of sustainable development. Italian origin designers decided to unbanal reflect in the interior.

The first thing that catches your eye is a curved ceiling that resembles either a drop or a wave. Fancy design - an allusion to a wood-burning pizza oven with its convex shape and cladding by hand-formed terracotta

The remaining materials are also typical for Italy and correspond to the “craft” spirit of the establishment: it is natural marble on the walls, floor and bar counter, textured brick, and warm wood. The floors in some areas are lined with terrazzo - a characteristic Italian technique in trend today. In addition, this decision refers to the interior of the Olivetti showroom in Venice, designed by the architect Carlo Scarpa. The name of the restaurant, meaning “forge”, is hinted at by the active use of metal: some of the walls are lined with steel sheets with a relief “bubble” effect. Open fire in the kitchen is another reference to the blacksmith's craft and traditional hearths where food is cooked.

The space is conceived as a quiet, calm haven - in order to cut off the bustle of the street, without blocking access to daylight, panoramic “stained-glass” windows with colored glass inserts appeared. Most of the furniture was designed by AMA (Andy Martin Architects) specifically for this project. The inspiration for designers has become nature: the dining tables seem to grow out of the floor, and the chairs are made of treated branches.
