Rubelli: a novelty from luxury textiles

Rubelli, together with young designers from NAVA + NAVA Design Studio, launched a series of unusual PILA-47 armchairs for Milan Furniture Salon 2016. In the new product, fabric is a key design element. The idea of the PILA-47 collection stems from a desire to identify the quality of upholstery, its beauty, texture, tactile and expressive qualities.

Chairs can be arranged as original decorative elements, put them into each other, they are compact and comfortable. The shape of the object varies depending on the interaction with it. As in an expensive suit, all things have a spectacular lining, not repeating the basic pattern of textiles and not inferior in quality to the outside: the PILA-47 is able to show the full range of possibilities and the breadth of the Rubelli offer.

The Venetian company Rubelli (founded in 1889) is a family-owned company, managed today by the fifth generation of Rubelli. The textile factory is proud of the combination of handicraft and high-tech production. Masters Rubelli managed to restore the old technology of manufacturing Venetian silk, and the company's archive contains more than 6000 exhibits. Rubelli produces more than half a million meters of fabric per year under its own brand Rubelli Venezia, as well as creating textiles for Donghia, Armani / Casa, Dominique Kieffer. The bright premiere of the 2016 Rubelli Venezia was the In Wonderland collection (brocade, velvet, stripes, and chenille in more than 200 colors).

This strange name of the PILA-47 collection is explained simply: the official address of the company Rubelli S.p.A. - Via della Pila, 47, 30175 Marghera, Italia.
