First, he studied under the legendary expressionist Oscar Kokoschka, and secondly, together with Ettore Sottsass he stood at the base of the postmodern design group Memphis. In 1984 he founded his own studio in Milan and since then has been working on commercial products and interiors for almost thirty years, designing everything from coffee cups to hotels at airports. "I am not a designer, I am an architect working on a large and small scale."

His project of three residential buildings in Milan “Vertical Gardens” bypassed the world press as the foremost “green” architecture. In his bathrooms, shelves and tables there are attempts of a European to comprehend the Buddhist “simplicity and emptiness”. “All my projects are mirrors that reflect the geniuses of the place. Social housing in Treviso. Project 2006–2010. Matteo Tun realized early the prospects of “green” design, one of the first to include the words “ecology”, “sustainable development” (sustainability) in his vocabulary, and he emphasized that these concepts require broad understanding and are not limited only to technical parameters and regulatory prescriptions. He also coined the term “Ecotecture”, which he defined the philosophy he professed. The last years of Tunu are especially close to the themes of wellness, proximity to water, the cult of the body. He continues to design furniture, lamps, carpets, but the bathroom and spa segment now seems to be a priority.

For Fantini, the author created the Nice faucet line, which was shown on the company's booth, and also presented by the installation of Happy Water in the Milan showroom of the brand - bright color models are designed to bring sexuality to the bathroom. Nice is not the first collaboration with Fantini. In 2015, the Lamé mixers collection was published, the ergonomic forms of which are based on the calculations of the French mathematician Gabriel Lamé (1795-1870).
Thun is able to design a designer "hit" - a successful, popular product. Thus, the new toilet with bidet function for the Swiss brand Axent - Axent One presented at the ISH exhibition in 2015 has already received four awards: Design Plus 2015, Red Dot 2015, Iconic Award 2016 of the German Design Council and, finally, just recently - iF Design Award. Perhaps this is not the limit.
