“I can hardly be called a pyromaniac, but I like to observe how fire destroys a thing. And then it turns into something completely new, no less beautiful than before. What I do, by a happy coincidence, it seems, is design. My method is like cooking, and things are like food. You will not eat something even, rectilinear and perfect in form. It is unpleasant. And I like organic forms, but cracked, with a wormhole.

A good cook doesn't need a recipe. He acts on a whim, guided by experience, takes those ingredients that are on hand. I do not make sketches, just invent what I want to get, and - for the cause. Or I explain the idea to my producer Basu den Herder, and he is looking for a factory with the necessary technical base for me. In the Clay collection I molded everything from clay myself, so there are no two identical objects. Treasure is things made from furniture production waste.

"Treasures" were released as long as the factory left a certain form of waste. I collect rubbish on the flea markets and make of it the pyramids. Items change their purpose: the violin becomes a hanger, the chair becomes a shelf. Chaos and disorder - that's what I can't work without. In general, I am a very punctual and obliging person - if I apply gloss on my workplace, literally an hour later chaos reigns there, because this is the most productive environment for me.

My ideal is a garage-workshop with tools, workpieces, parts, where something is constantly customized, honed, and knocked together.
