The "eternal" or timeless chair of Mark Newson can be called for two reasons. Firstly, it is an exact, almost literal reference to the modernist chairs and chairs designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the Villa Tugendhat in 1930. Today in the USA they are let out by Knoll.

Newson and Benjamin Pardo, Knoll's design director, agreed that the new chair would respect the aesthetics and principles of Knoll Seating, in particular, the principles of the cantilever design.

Actually, this was to be expected, since the Knoll team worked closely on the release of the Newson Aluminum Chair for several years. Instead of steel pipes, innovative at the time of the Bauhaus, 90 years later, the chair was made with a light and durable cast aluminum frame.

Secondly, the subject has a futuristic silhouette, typical of all the works of Newson, the author of airplanes and yachts, the most expensive designer of our time. “The modern tradition of Knoll makes it possible to imagine a chair in the twenty-first century as a working and living thing,” said Mark Newson. The mesh blends well with the frame, which further emphasizes the visual purity of the chair: Newson chose a material that is tightly connected and soft to the touch.

The Newson Aluminum Chair is available in a black, milky white and silver frame. Mesh colors: black, gray, blue, orange, yellow and milky white. The chair is stackable and has two versions: with armrests and without.
