Karol Bayings and Stefan Scholten belong to a generation of Dutch designers who follow the lucky ones of the cult association Droog Design. On the one hand, they need to think about how not to get lost in the shadow of famous predecessors, on the other hand, the reputation of Dutch design in the world is already so high that it works on their career.

Karol and Stefan have been designing together for sixteen years. It is easy to move from interior projects to the development of furniture, carpets, dishes, home textiles. All their colleagues are in search of self-identity. The Dutch design has already developed its own rudeness, crushed the cult of a country object, claimed the right to mix rubber boots with lace underwear. Our duet knows how to use this arsenal of tools, while forging its own style.

The most important trump card is their specific sense of color. Very thin and refined. It is the light fading color that are famous for the works of Karol Byyings and Stefan Sholten. Such as in the project with vegetables. Fabric artichokes, lemons, red cabbage and squeezed lettuce with unmatched accuracy of the transfer of texture and color. The effect that captivates us is the painting of photorealism.

Еще один выдающийся опус — шкаф Amsterdam, придуманный по заказу Established & Sons, бренда, который славится умением сочетать новейшие технологии с ремесленными приемами. Сколоченный из досок, крашенный в нежные цвета, шкаф повторял оригинальную голландскую форму XVII века. На внутренних сторонах дверей — ч/б принты-натюрморты с набором предметов, типичных для полотен старых мастеров. Ножки — шары розового оттенка — сделали стеклодувы. Особый шик этой вещи в том, что реальный объект 
выглядит, как компьютерная модель.

Одна из заметных работ дуэта — сервиз Tea with Georg для датской компании Georg Jensen. За основу взята традиционная чайная церемония, принятая в Японии, но добавлены кофейники и кофейные чашки в угоду голландцам, предпочитающим кофе. Самое поразительное сочетание материалов: чайники, кофейники, сахарницы, устройство для кипячения воды сделаны из нержавейки, а чашки, блюдца — из тонкого фарфора, окрашенного вручную. Есть подозрение, что фарфор появился как носитель специфического цвета, который маркирует фирменный стиль Scholten & Baijings.

The Dutch duet has become incredibly popular lately. They managed to work for the automobile brand Mini (BMW Group) - they painted the iconic model in the firm soft-acid colors. Their personal exhibition, organized in the French city of Yera in the villa of the Duke of Noay, left a sensation of a fashionable decorative holiday.

Among the latest works is the Ottoman collection for the Italian factory Moroso: in the silhouette of the subject you can feel the sought-after spirit of the 1950s, in the upholstery company colors plus vintage fine geometry. Degree fashion guys do not lose.
