Dutch design week 2016: the best dutch chair

The Dutch Design Foundation announced the winners of the annual National Design Award, welcoming innovation among local talent. The final list of finalists was presented to the public at the traditional exhibition during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. The main prize for the subject design, the Future Award, which marks the most incendiary projects among all the winners, was presented by Kristin Meindertsma. The author of luxurious knitted poufs and carpets, she became famous as the author of the book "Pig 0504", in which Christine talks about the process of obtaining 185 different products (from bullets to cellular concrete) from one pig carcass. Today, Christine Meindertsma is developing a new composite material using flax. Flax is a widespread culture that requires very little water, it is mixed with polylactic acid and get biodegradable plastic. The composite is cut into triangular sheets that are used to make furniture. Meindertsma cuts each sheet of material so much that there is almost no waste.

The best Dutch chair is designed by Kristin Meindertsma (Christien Meindertsma).
