The London Design Museum has prepared an exhibition in memory of Azzedine Alaya. What surprises have curators come up with?

One of the last great fashion designers, Azzedine Alaya did not become November 18, 2017. The star of the 1980s, the favorite of the first beauties of the planet, he worked at his own pace, outside of trends and seasons, for a select club of customers. One of the latest projects, on which Alaya worked shortly before his death, was a solo show at the London Design Museum, which would coincide with the opening of the new flagship Maison Alaïa on Bond Street.

The exhibition was planned by Alaya in collaboration with Milanese gallery owner Carla Sozzani, curator Mark Wilson and co-director of the Design Museum Alice Black.
60 outstanding works placed in front of a series of five screens. American sculptor Chris Ruchs, painter and companion Alaya Christoph von Weyhe, and most importantly Mark Newson, Konstantin Grcic, the Burulleka brothers - designers with whom Azzedine was friends and collected were invited to collaborate on the project So Newson created an impressive screen in pinkish anodized aluminum. Ronan and Erwan Burulleki first met Alaia in 2002 at the opening of their exhibition in Galerie Kreo. Alaya bought almost the entire collection. For display in the Museum of Design, the duo stopped on a glass screen.
