The yacht Parsifal III, named after the legendary knight Parsifal, was the fastest sailing yacht that the famous Italian shipyard PERINI NAVI launched. Yacht owner Danish millionaire Kim Vibe-Petersen (Kim Vibe-Petersen) built Parsifal III specifically to participate in sailing regattas

Dane Kim Vibe-Petersen, head of the company SCANOMAT, made a fortune in the 80s when he started producing automatic espresso machines. But besides coffee in his life there is another hot passion - sailing yachts. He owns three yachts named Parsifal, the latter of which became a real event in the world of yacht design.

Parsifal III is the fastest sailing yacht ever built on the famous Italian shipyard PERINI NAVI. The hull lines were designed by shipyard engineers in collaboration with renowned naval architect Ron Holland. To reduce the draft and increase stability (as yachtsmen call the vessel’s ability to establish a vertical position), instead of the classical one, they made a shorter keel with wings like those that adorn the tail of an airplane. To reduce the weight, the hull of the yacht was made not of steel, but of aluminum. For the same reason, the designers abandoned the metal masts - on Persifal III carbon fiber masts were installed from the New Zealand company MARTEN SPARS. As a result, Parsifal III at a good wind speeds up to 16 knots per hour (about 30 land kilometers per hour).

The interior of this yacht was designed by renowned French designer Remy Tessier, who is known for his passion for using such exotic materials as rare types of marble, as well as sycamore, ebony and rosewood. Ebony has become the dominant material in the decoration of this yacht. The interior turned out to be thick coffee shades: the designer made furniture from ebony, and the floors in the cabin were made of wenge. On such a dark background, white blotches look very advantageous: semicircular sofas, internal surfaces of the chairs in the dining room, leather inserts near the windows in the main salon.

However, Remy Tessier is not limited to interior design. It is always difficult for a designer to “turn around” on sailing yachts. But the limited space allows you to come up with unexpected planning decisions. For example, on the yacht Parsifal III there is no foyer - the stairs connecting the three decks are located right in the middle of the main saloon. On both sides of the staircase, Tessier set up two semicircular dressers, which can serve both as cupboards and bar counters. In a relatively narrow living room space, the author of the project decided not to install a traditional rectangular sofa. Instead, he made a composition of four sofas on the rails, which can rotate in a circle.

Remi Tessier began his career as a furniture designer. This his talent turned out to be extremely popular on yachts, where the author of the interior must fight for every centimeter of space. At Parsifal III, it is sometimes difficult to understand where the wall ends and the built-in wardrobe begins. The designer treats the space freely, he brings smooth lines into it, so even the cabinets and tables get a pleasant roundness of the forms.

Such a style could be called modern art deco. "The fact that there are many surfaces of complex shape, which are trimmed with exotic woods, really makes you think of Art Deco," - says the author of the interior. At the same time, Tessier admits that he did not try to repeat the interiors of the Art Deco era. "The yacht has its own, exclusive style. It is born from a combination of straight and curved lines, from the contrast of dark and light wood. This yacht was created for two. Contrasts remind us of the interaction of yin and yang, feminine and masculine," explains the designer .
