SALON: You are engaged not only in the subject design, but also in architecture. Is there any relationship here?

- Of course. Architecture is primarily a form, a structure, with respect to the subject design, we strive to combine everything - both form and aesthetics. I am a designer, not a stylist, I can not work only with the external design, the content plays for me no less a role than the decor. S: What tasks were set before you when you first started cooperating with the company? ZANOTTA?

- We work with ZANOTTA already four years, and every year we do one or two things. In my opinion, design is not some kind of independent substance. There is a designer and there is a company-customer; they create one or another object in tandem. I am not a supporter of pure creativity, not tied to the needs of specific people, so working as a team with a large brand that knows exactly who it is targeted at. To an outside observer it may seem that there is a lack of creative freedom, but no - a clear awareness of the goal does not interfere with the manifestation of fantasy. S: Tell us about the latest things you have created for this brand.

- A year ago - Dora chair. Dora's decor is reminiscent of tattoos, it also has something of a Japanese theme. We drew inspiration from Scandinavian design. And, they say, Dora is like a glass. Now in the design, each piece of furniture incorporates cultures from different countries, we also use this in our work. The 2007 Moon and River beds are two completely different versions of the same theme. Moon seems to be wearing a quilt; River, in contrast, is a male model, in leather. Due to the bending of the back on it you can sit comfortably and read. These are soft and hard options, corresponding to two beginnings - male and female. This, if you will, is our answer to Louis and the gender question.

S: What inspires you?

S: What furniture is in your own home?

- T-able glass table from SCHIFFINI (I was the art director of this brand). There is also a Lama chair from ZANOTTA. These things are like friends whom I invited to visit, and they took and settled with me. I do not like when people come to me and feel cramped. Lama is one of those things that helps to relax and overcome the awkwardness of the first minutes of the meeting. We also have an old wooden bed - antique type. I have been sleeping on it since I was 16 years old.

S: What colors do you prefer?
