The couple decided to find a place to live in Naples. After reviewing many options, they found a beautiful apartment in an old house.

High, from floor to ceiling, windows overlook the picturesque cove of the Gulf of Naples. “No, we did not choose an apartment under the landscape,” the hostess laughs in response to my question. - We were just lucky. When we started looking for an apartment, we only had a general idea of what we wanted. Big, with high ceilings ... But we fell in love with this at once. ”

A small cozy hall, a living room with a wooden ceiling and a peeling painted frieze, a bedroom in which a magnificent, but not functioning fireplace remained, a study, a kitchen, a dining room - this apartment was seen by its future owners ... in general, required restoration and repair. “My wife always dreamed of an apartment in the style of an old Italian villa,” says the owner. - She studied as a decorator, well versed in classical styles. Before meeting with this apartment, I was a fan of the modern functional style, but only until this meeting. Then everything changed at the moment. ” The hostess, smiling, remembers how she and her husband were discussing the concept of the future interior. They immediately decided that their apartment should not look like a museum (living in a museum is not very comfortable). They wanted her to look like a cozy home, where many generations of one family grew up and where each generation brought something different to the interior. Therefore, along with classical furniture, they put on a modern and fashionable designer chandeliers. At the same time, they preserved the historical surroundings - beams, caissons, stucco moldings, paintings. Now we can conclude that modern lamps and furniture in this "old" interior look very harmonious.

In the living room, for example, hung an artichoke chandelier, the hit of the 50s of the twentieth century. It is attached to the wooden ceiling beams, painted with patterns in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance. Under it - a white sofa with a concise form. On the minimalist dresser table there is a table lamp in the spirit of the 50s, and next to it there is a vintage armchair. A fluffy modern carpet, also white, was laid on a parquet of noble wood. White furniture in white walls looks very elegant. It used different shades of white - from white-boiled to creamy, and thanks to this the interior seems to be saturated with light to the limit. To make it even more light, the windows in the living room did not close the curtains.

“We have a typical Mediterranean interior story here,” says the hostess. - White color is very characteristic of the Mediterranean. It goes well with bright colors - red, yellow, aqua. We love bright colors and used them here, but carefully, as color accents. ”
