Respectability and sophistication of the classic style never go out of fashion. This was the Moscow apartment of a young family thanks to the work of Charles Cameron.

Project manager Olga Kushnaryova-Leone: “In this interior, as in our other projects, many things were created individually, according to author’s drawings and sketches. Patterns for oak boiserie and stucco decorated ceilings in each of the rooms were created separately. Specially designed drawings of marble rosettes and scenes for hand-painted. Natural materials of decoration, floral motifs of wallpaper and classic-style furniture have developed into a harmonious ensemble, in which beauty does not contradict convenience. ”

What tasks have customers set for you? Olga Kushnaryova-Leone: We created this project for a young couple who prefer the classic style. They bought an apartment in the MSU area, which is characterized by buildings in the spirit of monumental classicism. Therefore, the classic interior solution looks in its surrounding context more than organically. As a small child grows up in a family, we needed to combine functionality and convenience with the rich decor typical of the classics. We managed not to sacrifice either one or the other. Absolutely utilitarian rooms, such as dressing rooms and bathrooms, are no less carefully decorated than the main rooms.

SALON: The apartments are in a new house. How much did you have to change their original layout? - The apartment had all the usual flaws that are inherent in most new homes, even the highest level. But there were flat and unconditional advantages. The hallway, the hallway and the corridor leading to the living room are lined up in an enfilade. Before the eyes of the incoming first, this solemn perspective opens, setting the mood for the whole interior.

S: Classic — a concept that is very ambiguous, especially in modern reading. Can we talk about any regional features of the classical style in this interior? —The French and English traditions coexist very harmoniously and naturally. Moreover, there is no separation of their influence depending on whether it is a private zone or a public one. The halls leading to the living room and the reception area itself are settled along the lines of the French school. The walls are covered with carved oak boasers of light colors (in the living room — milky, and in the hallway — pale green), and wallpapers with characteristic floral patterns are selected in a soft pastel color scheme. The main decoration of the ceilings are stucco moldings with a pattern in the rococo style. Rokaylnye motifs are present in the interior of the main bedroom, where the oak eaves are richly decorated with carved curls. At the same time, the dressing room adjoining it, the walls of which are closed by cabinets according to the author's drawings, largely relates to the English tradition. The same can be said about the kitchen. But the most striking English accent in this interior is the study: the olive-green color of a boiserie and curtains is complemented by red accents in the wallpaper design and textile decoration.

S: The interior looks very calm, while there are many bright color accents in it ... —Yes, in this apartment there is a feeling of calm and comfort. But we did not have the task to use only neutral or only light colors. We relied on a completely classical palette, in which there is a place in both red, and blue, and green. The secret was to choose the right shades and place them evenly, weave color accents in every detail of the space.
