Excelsior and Villa Agavé in Dubrovnik

A few years ago, the Excelsior Hotel was completely remodeled. The project was entrusted to the architect Renate Strok, who gave the building an ultramodern look. Looking at him, it is difficult to assume that the history of Excelsior has more than one hundred years and began in the XIX century. From the sea, the hotel looks like a huge cruise liner: a lot of glass was used in the facade decoration, and the rows of windows resemble portholes. Room decoration also suggests associations with first class cabins. White color dominates; dim, relaxing, pastel-colored furniture is selected. The best rooms, Presidential Suites, consist of several rooms. They are just preferred by famous guests of the hotel, among whom even the Queen of England is listed.
But it is best to live in villas by the sea, located separately. Villa Agave once belonged to the famous archaeologist Arthur Evans, who unearthed the Palace of Knossos in Crete. Evans lived on it for almost ten years. To preserve the spirit of historical ownership, the interiors were furnished with antique furniture and even decorated with frescoes. They are made by contemporary Croatian artists upon request of the hotel. The villa has its own private beach, not connected with the main beach of the hotel. Behind her secured his butler (butler), a cook, two maids and even a massage therapist. It is offered to go on excursions at least in a limousine or on a yacht.
The hotel has several restaurants. The main - Salin - with an impressive view of the Old Town, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The restaurant, by the way, is quite large (designed for 120 people), and it can be rented for a private party. In the restaurant Satu make delicious sushi, and in the Prora bar, located by the sea, meat and seafood on the grill. Abacus Piano Bar is a trendy place, it is called the best in Dubrovnik.
The entire lower level of the hotel is occupied by the SPA Center Comfort Zone Space. Of the procedures proposed here, we recommend wraps with algae, hot stone massage and - especially - oxygen lifting.
