Project 1508 london: "prestige without vulgarity"

The Southbank skyscraper on the south bank of the Thames was created at the same time by the same modernist architect Richard Seifert as the famous Center Point on Oxford Street. Today, its infrastructure has been updated, and luxurious view apartments are offered for sale at a price of 1.8 million pounds sterling.

The project began in 2010, completed in 2016 with the collaboration of design studios 1508 London, Goddard Littlefair, Studio Ashby and Rachel Winham. They created exemplary interiors for a cosmopolitan client with high-quality furniture and materials.

Total apartments in the house 193: from studios to four-room apartments. Four penthouses complete the tower, the largest of the covered terraces in London, a rooftop lounge, a cinema, a 20-meter pool, a gym and other elements of a chic condominium are available to all residents.

Studio 1508 London and creative director Louise Wicksteed designed an apartment on the 36th floor (there are 41 of them in the tower). Louise adopted the main principle of Seifert: “prestige without vulgarity”.

There are many icons of post-war design: the Imzov, Mies van der Rohe and Saarinen items — mid-century modern values still resonate well with modern tastes. Comfortable elegance, clean lines and aesthetic design, tuned to a dynamic lifestyle, create a feeling of timeless atmosphere.

Recognizable classics in the interior: Drop Arne Jacobsen’s chairs and Harry Bertoi's Diamond give a good reference for the time of construction and at the same time look appropriate in open space, flooded with natural light. Marble fireplace in the spirit of the 60's made to order.

To make the interior look fresh with so many retro elements, Louise used a modern color palette and new materials. Instead of teak and brown wood, popular in the 50s, the team chose elegant parquet and graphic shelving for contrast.

Emerald green velvet sofa and ruddy pink accents fully convey today's mood, as well as brass details or Verdigri shade accessories. Marble with a well-developed contrasting pattern of veins was chosen for the kitchen and bar.

Carpet on the sketches of the studio 1508 London was made to order The Rug Company. In the master bedroom there are fewer candid references to the style of the mid-century, it is distinguished by black and white works of art, which contrast with the rich pattern of python on the carpet.
