Permanent member of the Professional Jury of the INTERIA AWARDS Award, architect Yuli Borisov — about the experience of the architect and the customer, interior design of the future and the winners of the Award Yuli Borisov, architect, head of the architectural bureau of the UNK project, member of the Moscow Union of Architects, the Union of Designers of Moscow, Moscow Architectural Society, teacher of MARHI

About innovation If the sphere of interior design is represented in graphics, then we will see the movement in a spiral, in waves, not linearly. And the consciousness of architects and customers is transformed on the basis of experience. Even 15 years ago, apartments furnished by a single designer brand were popular. The customer, as a rule, found it in the catalog or in the showroom. But gradually it became clear that mono-brand spaces do not always work for the result. Furniture from one catalog, mixers from one collection — this is not a guarantee of a current and successful interior. This experience is well traced in the works that we, as a part of the Professional jury, evaluate at the Prize. Every year the level of projects becomes higher, and the distance between the leaders and new authors is rapidly reduced. It is also interesting to observe how the work of the nominees boils down to a general trend: the majority refuse to use template techniques in working with form and object design, preferring innovative concepts in the design and design of space. This is, in my opinion, the maturity of the market. ”

About winners and foreign experience “The project of the winners of the Oleg Klodt Award and Anna Agapova is a European house with an emphasis on textures and materials. The authors paid great attention to the details and “packed” them into beautiful shape. The result is a Viennese style, intelligent and subtle, a precursor of ar-deco. In the project of the house of Alexei Nikolashin and Ekaterina Emelyanova, everything breathes with art, and even the view from the window is a finished picture. It was not by chance that the customer chose a house with picturesque views, and the authors of the project beat this moment: in the minimalist and snow-white space, paintings by contemporary artists appeared. Such reception is often used by our colleagues abroad, and we can only welcome the emergence of similar projects in Russia. The project of the apartment of Alexander Malinin and Anastasia Sheveleva is a great illustration of the task “high-class interior for a small budget”. The Japanese style, which was chosen by the authors, is filled primarily with content, meaning; form is not the main thing. What are some organic – mineral concrete blocks that architects, wanting to emphasize the content, used as a zoning element. "Male" interior turned out Natalia Polyakova and Cyril Parmon. Thanks to the work with black color, the space became restrained and clear. The authors succeeded, so to speak, in expressing the individuality of the customer through their own creative ambitions. Yuri and Irina Vopshinovy successfully played with color. The intrigue begins immediately at the entrance to the apartment: the first to pay attention to themselves are the red and blue jackets. The authors used these colors in the interior as well, which aroused my interest. I always wondered what was primary: the colors in the interior and then the jackets, or vice versa? "

About public interiors “In the“ Malevich ”restaurant, the decorator Yuna Megre managed easy self-irony. Stuccoing in a strip was diluted by the pomp of the “moment”, and the black installation (Malevich could have created this) and the modern staircase with one support made the space fresh and intriguing. ”

About dream “The project of Dmitry Pozarenko’s house, which won the Grand Prix, can be considered a model of small architecture. Unobtrusive interior, beautifully decided landscape, wonderful work with textures; planning decisions are rational, without surplus, every detail in its place. Everything here is perfect, and this is how the Italians design, the best in working with small architectural forms. This is a house with a certain promise “life was a success”: in front of the window, for example, a wooden bath, and right there a shelving with books. Lie down with a book, with a glass of wine — it's beautiful. Such a home is the dream of many customers. ”

About prospects “Summarizing what we saw, we can say that all the winners of the Prize tried, first of all, to show the customer’s individuality. It seems to me that this is now the main trend in interior design — to “read” people, who will then live in the proposed interior. I want to believe that the architects had another tool for self-realization — through the “portraits” of the customer. ”

About Award “INTERIA AWARDS is, of course, the leader among premiums in private and public interiors. A competition that would cover, for example, both urban planning and interior design is not the way: the depth that exists now will disappear. INTERIA AWARDS is, if you like, the vector of development: every year we watch dozens of works, having a unique opportunity to understand where the industry of private and public interior is moving. And such an award is a kind of gold standard. ”
