Wanting to express his special favor to the guests who came to the Alexander Palace, Nicholas II received them in the Rosewood Lounge, and the Emperor of Austria – Hungary Franz Joseph I gave an audience in the Walnut room of the Viennese palace of Schönbrunn, the Habsburg summer residence. The main decoration of these interiors was the decoration of precious woods. If in the Vienna Walnut room only walls were carved with walnut panels, then in St. Petersburg's Rosewood living room not only the boiserie, but also the furniture (and even the Faberge box stored there) was made of rosewood. And in fact, and in another case, the color of the face and the texture of wood determined the face of the interior.
