Joan Croucher (Joan Croucher) was engaged in interior design herself. She was born in Argentina and is married to an Argentine, but in her veins flows British blood. Joan's ancestors settled in Britain before the Norman Conquest. Her father, at the age of 17, was sent to fight in India, and he left the ordeal with honor and many awards. In Argentina, the family brought a relationship with General Juan Manuel de Rosa. And Joan's parents stayed in Buenos Aires, partly because of her. Waiting for the birth of their daughter, they spent more than a month in the Argentine capital and fell in love with this city. In the end, I still had to live in two continents (no matter what month - the trips to London). “It made me cosmopolitan,” says Joan.
Her home is an illustration of this cosmopolitanism. It can be seen that the hostess is not afraid of experiments: the classics are mixed with modernity, antiques - with works of contemporary art. “I have four children, and I work mostly at home,” says Joan. “So I approached the interior design very seriously.”
The building where the apartments are located was built in 1955. This is a standard mansion characteristic of the building of Buenos Aires in those years. “The ceilings are amazingly high,” says Joan. “Actually, it was they who influenced my decision to live in this house.” The hostess selected the situation very carefully: a family antiquity, inherited, mixed with art objects that she had already bought. “Antiques are more unpretentious, for works of contemporary art, a special environment is needed,” says the owner. - They require a certain theatrical space. Therefore, in the dining room, where the most valuable items from my collection stand (for example, the sculptures of Cristina Piceda), the walls are painted dark blue. We specially thought over the lighting, organized according to the principle of a museum exposition. ” Although the interiors themselves from the museum are far. One feels that they have been made for a long time, thoroughly and "by themselves."
