Architect Irina Gorshkova created an interior with oriental motifs in a Moscow townhouse

Project author Irina Gorshkova says that the image of this house was born gradually. Tasks, and with them the interior concept, have changed several times. At first, the family planned to come here on short visits, then decided to stay for good, and finally the representative functions appeared at the interior: now they not only live in the house, but also receive distinguished guests. The latter circumstance determined the layout. The first floor is conventionally called female, it is almost completely occupied by the dining room and kitchen. The second, “the male half,” is set aside for a large living room, where officials are met, the owner’s office and other rooms. On the third are the master bedroom and children's “kingdom”: the bedroom and the work room where they do the lessons, and even the “dressing room” for toys, which is located on the mezzanine specially built in the work room (the ceiling height allowed to create it is more than five meters). A spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine, its fence is made in the form of rotating balusters, it is like one big toy.

It was originally intended to design the interior in a classic style with elements modern. But when they decided that it would serve not only as a living space, but also as a presentation space, the architect filled it with characteristic decor for the Oriental culture, close to the owners. The floors of the first floor are a kind of artistic canvas. In the dining room they are made of wood, in the kitchen and in the hall they are made of stone. And there, and there they are decorated with oriental patterns in the technique of marquetry, or typesetting mosaic. In the bedroom - a complex domed ceiling with plaster stucco - Moscow masters exactly recreated the oriental vaults. The bathroom has an arched structure with characteristic columns. And in the recreation room in the basement, where the entertainment zone is located, one of the walls is an imitation of a palace alcove, it is covered with gilded script and a vegetable pattern taken from Persian carpets. The architect says that the Eastern theme should not have dominated, but at the same time it should have been quite obvious, so much attention was paid to characteristic details referring to the national culture.

Architect Irina Gorshkova: “This project has a long history. In the process of work, tasks changed, layout and style changed. The result was a weathered classic interior, according to all the rules. It has oriental notes. To reflect the national color, I used distinctive ornaments and a number of decorative elements, such as pointed arches, which are often found in oriental architecture. ”
