The ensemble of modern architecture Vitra Campus was supplemented this summer with two new projects: the Blockhaus Pavilion-hut by German artist Thomas Schütte and the poetic landscape objects of Ronan and Ervan Burullek Ruisseau and Ring.

The hexagonal log blockhouse chose the permanent head of Vitra for the campus, Rolf Velbaum, who asked Thomas Schütte to enlarge one of his works. A student of Gerhard Richter, German artist Thomas Schütte (Thomas Schütte, b. 1954) is one of the leading sculptors of his generation. In addition to sculptures, he creates installations, public art projects, draws up museum and public spaces.

The Schütte Pavilion was created from northern pine, its plywood roof is covered with titanium tiles. Inside the archaic hut are a pair of wooden benches and a ceramic bowl of a small fountain.

The French designers, the Brothers of Burulka, completed the campus with two objects - with its famous metal bench Ring (“Ring”), which surrounds the old tree and the new project called Ruisseau (Source).

The Vitra campus combines the commercial and cultural initiatives of the Swiss furniture manufacturer: the buildings created here by famous architects have made the production site a magnet for design and architecture fans. For the first time, Burulleka showed his unusual benches in cooperation with the Kunsthal Aarhus Center for Contemporary Art and Kvadrat in 2017. The long channel is installed with a small, invisible to the eye slope of the gutter.

“It reminded me of those streams where you could easily put a paper boat and watch where it floats,” explained Erwan Burulek.
