Milan La Rinascente is named the best department store in the world. He received the title at the Global Department Store Summit 2016 held in Zurich. The summit organizes every two years the largest association of department stores in the world, the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores (IGDS), created in Switzerland in 1946 and uniting 40 of the world's leading department stores from 36 countries. The Russian association members are TsUM and the JamilCo group of companies. The summit culmination was the award ceremony. The winners are chosen by 7 thousand department store managers and leading retail specialists. This is the only such award that is awarded to department stores.
Milan La Rinascente received his award for creativity, excellent customer service, performance, innovative sales strategies offline and online, for the best window dressing, incl. for the project presented at the opening of EXPO 2015.

Since May 2011, the department store is owned by Thailand's largest retailer Central Group, which bought out la Rinascente for 260 million euros.

Along with 12 other stores in the largest Italian cities, it belongs to the group of Thai Central Retail Corporation. La Rinascente is located in the heart of Milan, a few steps from the famous cathedral. In this ten-story building, designed interiors - which is not surprising, since the department store has long cooperated with the best designers, such as Fabio Novembre, Future Systems, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Vincent van Daisen. Here, buyers can find products from timeless classics to the latest fashion trends, constant income from the most prestigious brands and a design supermarket - an entire floor dedicated to furniture, gadgets and all sorts of designer accessories.

By the way, Selfridges was the winner of three previous biennials and for 6 years held the title of the best department store in the world.
