Nilufar gallery: apartment exhibition art & design

Behind the richly decorated red-brick facade of the Victorian mansion on South Audley Street is a trendy modern interior. The apartment on the first floor was temporarily placed at the disposal of Milanese gallery owner Nina Yashar, London interior designer Shalini Misra, and also Mehves Ariburnu, a Turkish collector and gallery owner Ariburnu, was largely responsible for the choice of art. Yashar has a high reputation as a teysmeker and usually shows his goods - classics of design of the twentieth century, a limited edition of modern authors, hand-made carpets - in a three-story gallery in the center of Milan or in the dramatic space of a former factory in the Milan suburb.

The apartment chosen as an exhibition space covers an area of 230 sq. M.

The Squat project initiated by Nina Yashar suggests a different approach. Experts define its essence as furniture-in-situ (furniture in the natural environment) - collectible items are organically integrated into a masterfully decorated living space. As Nina herself says, she likes “the unexpected connections that arise between things and the environment.” However, the name of the furniture-in-situ is not quite accurate, because in addition to the actual pieces of furniture, there are also works of art and decor.

The central place in the living-dining room is occupied by the 1960s Joe Ponty chandelier made of brass and opal glass. Around the bronze tables of Osanna Visconti di Modrone are the chairs of the 1950s Federico Munari. The carpet is woven by hand in Nepal by the design of Ego Vicente (2015).

In order to create a temporary exhibition, the authors had to make a grand renovation - to remove suspended ceilings, to restore stucco molding, high skirting, moldings and framing doors. They put expensive floors, built-in wardrobes, for the decoration of which they invited the best British craftsmen, decorated the bathrooms and toilets with Italian marble (kalakatta, Carrara, Nero Marquin and Armani). Beautiful curtains, bedding, bedspreads are provided by the Italian brand Claudia Barbari.

The hall is dominated by thin lines and geometric motifs. The pattern on the floor of white marble thassos and black nero marquina inspired by one of the lobbies decorated by Joe Ponty in the 1950s.

The authors of the set design are Nina Yashar, Shalini Misra and her business partner Ekta Varma. In the foreground is the desk of Massimiliano Locatelli. The long model is composed of several small ones, which implies the possibility of varying its configuration. The living room is decorated with a design screen by Martino Hamper - a similar model in the main bedroom acts as a headboard. The chandelier was created by Swede Hans Agne Jacobsson for Markaryd AB. On the walls are two works by German artist Nicholas Gambaroff: a torn polymer film was used as the material. On the floor is a 1960s Dane Verner Panton carpet. Despite the fact that the house contains only museum-level things, it does not look like a museum. The authors managed to create an elegant, comfortable interior in which it is pleasant to live. The Mayfair apartment building at 70 South South Street was built in the 1890s. On the facades of red brick perfectly preserved decorative details of sandstone. In the role of the head is a Martino Hamper folding screen. Three pseudo-classical portraits of Austrian Marcus Schinwald, Lindsay Adelman's Chandelier are in contrast with her. The Chromosome carpet is woven in Tibet by the design of the Caturegli Formica studio. Brass and glass chandelier design Joe Ponti - the rarest instance. The architect designed it for the Parco dei Principi Hotel in Rome. The limited edition was later released by the Arredoluce brand. There are dressers by Charlotte Perrien near the wall. Design chairs by Iko Parisi are located around the Massimiliano Locatelli table. The model is made up of several small tables, which suggests the possibility of varying its configuration. The dominant dining room is a large canvas by American artist Julian Schnabel. The author is also known as a director.

Each of the items stationed in the apartment is for sale. According to rough estimates, the collection of design objects costs 1.5 million pounds, and the apartment itself after the update - 10.9 million. At the same time, during the exhibition, anyone can enjoy a magnificent piece and appreciate how the collection design works in the interior.

Entrance hall By the wall is a settimanile chest, the author is Roberto Julio Reed. The model is made of black opal glass and decorated with antique glass spheres. Photo "Statue", D. Lashapel (2008) contributes to the trendy mix.

June 7 - October 15, 2016. The exhibition partner is the company Dedar.
