On the street Faubourg Saint-Honore, two steps from the Place de la Concorde and the Elysée Palace, is the hotel Le Bristol, which occupies one of the first places among the best hotels in the world. It is not by chance that many guests of the French capital prefer this particular place - the quarter of high fashion and art galleries. At various times, ministers and presidents, including US President Harry Truman, stayed at the hotel. Many times the guests of the hotel were Charlie Chaplin, Merlin Monroe, Herbert von Karajan, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly The hotel’s history began in 1758, when a large Parisian homeowner, Jean-François Sandrieux, acquired a large plot of land with a house on the outskirts of Saint-Honore, adjacent to the Royal Gardens, and leased it to a gardener. In the time of Napoleon, a hotel was built on the site of an old village house. She passed several times from hand to hand, until she got to the well-known theater patron, court nobleman, Count Jules de Castellane. He rebuilt the house, decorated it with Ionic columns, bronze gratings, ceilings - with painting and stucco. An oval room designed for home theater was attached to the main building. Now here is the winter hall of the restaurant. Since that time, the hall has preserved a unique wall covering of Hungarian oak, crystal chandeliers and a tapestry of the XVIII century. The former home of the gardener has become a true work of architectural art. Once again the hotel was rebuilt in 1925. The building was expanded at the expense of the territory of a nearby nunnery. At the same time, the hotel received its name in honor of the famous geographer and traveler of the XVIII century, Count Frederick Auguste Herve de Bristol. Since 1978, the hotel Le Bristol belongs to the German industrial group "Doctor Otker". Its new owners have tried to do everything to improve the service of their guests. On the sixth floor of the hotel there is a unique indoor pool, similar to a glass ship, rising above the Parisian roofs. It was designed by Professor Pinno - the creator of the legendary yacht Aristotle Onassis. The pool is lined with teak wood and decorated with a huge panel overlooking the Cape of Antibes. One of the most fashionable places in Paris is the Bristol Hotel’s gastronomic restaurant. Here you can order national dishes of any country in the world. And the wine cellar is so huge that it is impossible to list all the brands of wines available there. Especially refined gourmets can pamper themselves with seventy-five-year-old cognac or 1865 champagne. And for lovers of fresh air can set a table with drinks and snacks from the bar right in the garden. The hotel also offers all the amenities for business people. In 1993, a business center was opened here, providing guests with the opportunity to receive assistance from translators, secretaries and any information services. And for meetings and conferences, there are as many as 5 rooms equipped with the latest equipment. Here you can simultaneously receive from 20 to 300 guests. Underground parking for 200 cars - at the service of your guests. And if necessary, you can literally order everything from mineral water of your choice to a film projector and a screen. Those who have ever stayed at Bristol will definitely return here. When they return, they are shocked: they find the number exactly as they left it when they left. It turns out that every little thing in the room is photographed after the guest’s departure, and when he returns, everything is recreated in the smallest detail. Even a forgotten book is lying on the table open on the same page, which once did not have time to read ...Illustrations supplied by Hotel Le Bristol
