LG has released a TV, the display thickness of which is less than three millimeters. The exact figure: 2.57. It seemed that recently the indicator of half a centimeter seemed to be the limit, which is impossible to exceed - and here is a new step. The OLED65G6V record holder is part of the premium LG Signature lineup. The brand, in addition to the TV, includes a variety of appliances: from an air purifier to a refrigerator. OLED65G6V was first presented at the Consumer Electronics Show CES 2016 in Las Vegas and recognized as the best TV of the show, receiving the Best of CES award. Now it is launched into mass production. OLED65G6V supports HDR format, including HDR10, and demonstrates Picture-on-Glass corporate design. The translucent back panel is made of glass, the speakers are built into the stand. The TV does not have a frame - because of this, it has little resemblance to a household appliance, but rather a mirror or a work of modern art.
For excellent acoustics OLED65G6V responsible multichannel audio system, developed in conjunction with the company harman / kardon®.It should be understood that the minimum thickness is not an end in itself: OLEDs allow you to rise to a new level in image quality. The functional element of the OLED TV are organic LEDs - polymers of organic origin. Electric impulses pass through the thinnest multilayer layers, which allows to obtain a glow of outstanding quality: bright, high-contrast, with a wide palette and excellent black color. It is OLED technology that determines the future of televisions. In combination with the resolution of Ultra HD / 4K, OLED-TVs provide brightness, rich shades and contrast levels that are unattainable for other technologies.
LG is not going to stop there. The company has already received a prototype TV 1 mm thick. It can be folded into a tube like a sheet of paper and stick on the wall.
