This hotel stands in a secluded spot on the outskirts of Österpark, the first park in Amsterdam, which was established in 1891 in English fashion. A glass pavilion of the hotel restaurant and cafe with a simple menu and snacks was added to the old chapel of the XIX century 25 years ago. In the interiors, designers restored the main elements that highlight the features of the building, adding modern design.

For such a successful update, the team of V Architectuur and TANK Interior Design, together with owner Paul Hermanides, won the 2017 Best Restyling Entree Award.

The Entree 2017 Award is annually awarded to the most beautiful, sophisticated and high-quality restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes and nightclubs that opened in a year. In 2017, a jury of experts selected winners from 55 nominees in 11 different categories. About Hotel Arena, the jury said: “Because of the size of this project, this is more rebranding than restyling. History and timeless architecture blend in an impressive way. Moreover, the environment is used perfectly. Now a great balance has appeared between a hospitable hotel, nature and culture. ”
