Sofas cross rooms like mountain ranges, stretch linearly, undulating or zigzagging, form islands-atolls - the modular principle has revolutionized the design of fashionable groups of upholstered furniture. The consumer is offered not just double or triple “fixed” models, but a set of elements: of which he himself composes a composition according to the size and configuration of his living room, as well as lifestyle and ideas about comfort. What is the trend? At the Milan Furniture Salon in 2016, a lot of new models on high and thin metal legs were shown: they contrasted with lush seats, facilitating massive forms - similar models created by Antonio Citterio for Flexform and Mauro Lipparini for Natuzzi.

However, massive bases remain in demand, a good example is Bucintoro from Rubelli Casa. The name, which translates from the Venetian dialect as "golden barque", is borrowed from the ceremonial 30-meter galleys of the Venetian Doges; the laconic form of the sofa accentuates the magnificent golden Rubelli fabric. The further, the programs become more diverse: today, manufacturers include in them not only soft modules, but also elements of cabinet furniture: tables, shelves, storage spaces, as the already mentioned company Natuzzi did. Francesco Binfare developed a collection with rounded sections for the factory headed by him Edra.

Designers Rolf Benz have relied on increased comfort: they included elements with an unusually high back and increased depth in the Tondo program. Just like the equally famous Tira model, the Tondo sofa offers everyone to find their own comfortable place to relax.
