Fredrikson stallard: our mission to arouse emotions

A pair of Fredrikson Stallard - recognized stars of British design, in their track record of short-run museum-level items, production furniture, designer interiors, jewelry and fifty-meter yachts.

Frederickson and Stallard, as a duet, undoubtedly have a rare baroque temperament, are able to see beauty and transmit the energy of destruction. Just like Daniel Libeskind, the master of deconstruction, now and then, among the names of their collections, cracks, catastrophes and hurricanes appear. “We are groping for a dramatic relationship between natural and synthetic, analog and digital, artisan and industrial, unique and multiple,” say the pros. It is considered that the subject serial design is killed by endless marketing meetings: “Too many people tell the designers what the consumer wants.”

In general, they look rather critically at the modernist tradition of the twentieth century: they are not particularly interested in developing the basic modernist principle “form follows function”. It is much more interesting to explore the contextual plan of objects, to see and identify the sculptural advantages, as well as to think about the emotional impact of their opuses. “Most of our works show how to design objects beyond modernist ideals. We hope that our experiments will liberate the next generation of designers, or at least show other ways of searching. ”
