Formafantasma: collections of ideas

Designers Andrea Trimarchi (Andrea Trimarchi) and Simone Farresin (Simone Farresin), the Italians, learned in Eindhoven, living and working in Amsterdam. Each new collection is an application for a place in a museum collection.

Simone Farresin was born and raised in northeastern Italy, and Adrea Trimarca in Sicily. Designers met in Florence, where they studied at the Academy of Arts and became bachelor of arts. Immediately began to work together and together entered the master's program of the Academy of Design in Eindhoven. The case is exceptional, but the leaders of the institution went to meet their desire to work together. In 2009, after graduation, young people stayed in Holland and opened their own studio Formafantasma.

Research Formafantasma immediately attract the attention of specialists. For example, items from the Botanica collection immediately acquired the Victoria and Albert Museum. This time the designers experimented with polymers of plant and animal origin. For example, with bois durci, organic plastic of the XIX century, consisting of sawdust and animal blood. And also with shellac, rosin, dammar and rubber. All these substances designers combined with wood and metal.

At Design Miami / Basel 2016, the duo created a sensation with the Delta collection, inspired by ancient Roman artifacts and architecture. Here and table lamp, rethinking the shape of the helmet of the Roman centurion and ceramic vases, resembling vessels of the II century AD. The Eclipse ceiling lamp made of gilded brass and travertine discs is the image of the Roman Pantheon's oculus, openings in the dome through which streams of light flow into the temple.

In 2017, at the Milan Design Week in the updated Spazio Krizia Formafantasma again showed non-trivial items - minimalistic lamps made of metal and lava. And at the Milan salon - the fruits of cooperation with the company Flos, - a collection of Wire Ring and Blush, lamps, as if consisting of wires alone. Designers Andrea Trimarki and Simone Farresin rethought the relationship between form and function. The wire, which usually try to hide, paraded.
