Founded in 1968, Driade celebrates its 50th anniversary. During Milan Design Week 2018, the brand presented a project dedicated to another upcoming big date - the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 flight and the first landing of a man on the Moon.

Over the installation of the Moon Mission ("Moon Mission") was invited to work the writer Gianluigi Rykuperati and Studio Nucleo - a creative union of designers and artists from Turin, as well as the design agency Institute for Production of Wonder, Barbara De Micheli and Maurizio Chilli. They were offered to imagine what furniture designed for life on the moon could look like in the world of the future - for example, in 2068.

Deciding to connect the past and the future, the authors rethought the iconic Driade objects: the Koishi pouf, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, the Toy armchair, created by Philippe Starck, and the table of Cuginetto by Enzo Marie. Each resulting model is unique. Objects are more voluminous than prototypes, so that people in space suits could use them, and their surfaces seemed to be subject to weathering.

Things were printed on a 3D printer made of a composite, in composition resembling regolith - lunar soil. Theoretically, this will allow for the colonization of the Moon to print furniture on the spot from the available material, since the payload of modern launch vehicles is relatively small.
