The factory for the production of upholstered furniture Сor was founded by Leo Lubke on behalf of his son Helmut in the fall of 1954 together with S.D. Adolf Prince Bentheim-Tecklenburg.

In order to separate the new company from the existing Lübke KG and Interlübke, they chose the Latin word Сor. The word reminded of three hearts from the logo of Coat of Arms of Prince Bentheim. Production was located in the German town of Rede, in the building of a former car-repair plant.

Already in 1956, Cor presented a new product line at the Furniture Salon in Cologne. Great success came in 1964: the company released the modular collection Conseta, designed by F.-V. Möller. Virtually unchanged, it is still being done.

In 1969, a fruitful collaboration began with Peter Mali - he developed the Trinom seat program for Cor. In the 1970s, the brand glorified the Italian designer Luigi Colani, making the model Orbis. In the 1980s, Cor began participating in the Biennale of Interiors in Kortrijk (1982) and the Milan Furniture Salon (1985), and in 1991 the company exceeded the annual turnover of 40 million German marks for the first time. Сor was among the first furniture companies whose products are certified by EC Ecological-Audit-Process.
