The creator of the lamp, resembling a lamp for photo studios, was Mariano Fortuny (Mariano Fortuny, 1871-1949). He tried himself as an architect, sculptor, photographer, but became known primarily as a fashion designer. In his dresses, stylized as antique designs, Sarah Bernhard, Isadora Duncan and other stars of the era shone. Textiles have always occupied a special place in the works of Fortuny. For the production of the finest silk and printed velvet, a factory was built, located on the island of Giudecca near Venice. She is still in effect.

Not surprisingly, textiles are an important element of the Fortuny light. The three-legged model was developed in 1907, when Fortuny worked on the lighting of the stages and invented a system of indirect diffused light. Palucco has been releasing it since 1985. The dome of the floor lamp has changed “outfits” more than once: it was produced in black, white, and bronze colors. Metallized fabric, pleated taffeta was used - a reminder of branded dresses made from fabric with unusually small pleats (developed by Fortuny himself) Now the model is offered in a new finish: black fabric on the outside, metallic silver on the inside. The novelty was presented at the Euroluce exhibition as part of Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2017.
