The poetic image of this interior in Riga was born long before the designer met the future owners of the apartment. While still a free artist, Yana-Anna Petrovich saw in a dream polished crystal columns twisted into a spiral. The idea of huge glass masses as a central element of design sunk into her soul ... until a customer was found who appreciated the unusual design About the tornado, love and taming of the author of the project. "It all started with a proposal to make an original interior, one that would not be tired after a year or five years later. The customer really liked the idea of glass columns in the shape of a tornado. I drew sketches, and the only thing he asked was: how much would it cost It seemed to him that since this was an individual work, the amount would be astronomical. I managed to convince him, and later he agreed to many of my ideas: this is a fireplace, and an original stainless steel construction wrapped around it with a wire cord, etc. In nature, a tornado often carried there is destruction and even death, but we have it quite peaceful, tamed. And how to tame a tornado? This can only be done with love, so we have a tornado in love ... As a result, the seemingly insane idea turned out to be spectacular and beautiful Taming - the leitmotif of the design. The interior is fully consistent with the modern style of life. Here everything is functional. Even the decorative columns perform some functions: support, light, visually share. A huge role in the interior belongs to the lamps. In the living room alone there are six types of lighting that change mood. Several types of functional light. This is a group of lamps above the sofa area, a modular system from Paulmann in the hallway area. Different types of decorative light. The columns themselves glow, in the wire structures above the fireplace and the plasma panel there are hidden point light sources, in the corridor there is a decorative wall with luminous niches. There is also a light in the form of a glass wall behind the refrigerator. As for redevelopment, then as such it was not. From the functional point of view, the existing layout, despite its venerable age (the apartment is located in an old house in the center of Riga), is very successful. The only thing that had to be tricky was the ceiling. We removed the dilapidated attic floors, causing the ceiling to rise more than a meter, and rebuilt the roof. "Yana-Anna Petrovich: "Riga is a city with a long history. In the center you can find houses in the Riga modernity, and functionalism of the 30s, and wooden buildings with carved facades. For me, the apartment is located in the center of Riga. “I must live today, and the exterior does not have to be repeated in the interior."
