American talents: the future of two continents

Сегодня организаторы maison&objet делают ставку на Сингапур и Майами. Заокеанская сессия в США проходит со своим назначением дизайнера года (в 2016 г. им стал Рафаэль де Карденас) и чествованиями лауреатов номинации «Восходящие таланты». Выбор восходящих звезд сделан не только на основе реализованных работ, но был оценен их будущий потенциал. Все шесть имен отмечены галерейными выставками, сотрудничают с известными интерьерными дизайнерами и представлены в Париже, Милане и Нью-Йорке.

Gt2p, Chile. Studio gt2P (Tamara Perez, Sebastián Rosas, Guillermo Parada, Victor Imperiale, Eduardo Arancibia) was founded in 2009 in Santiago. Its name hides the expression Great Things to People (“Great Things for the People”). The specs of a successful Chilean team: continuous research and experiments on the verge of digital art and traditional craft. Participants call their method Paracrafting. They are actively using it to create a variety of products: geometric vessels, undulating walls, modular furniture systems, lamps and tables. Since 2015, gt2P has been represented by the Friedman Benda Gallery in New York. In 2016, Chileans designed Tarrugao lamps for the Italian company Cappellini. gt2P collaborates with Paris-based Galerie Gosserez and Milan’s Rossana Orlandi gallery.

AD HOC, Mexico. Architect Mauricio Alvarez and industrial designer Juan José Nemer created AD HOC after graduating from Iberoamericana University (Mexico) in 2014. The duet actively uses the work of local artisans, choosing traditional materials and techniques. Carved studio furniture from exotic local breeds won recognition at exhibitions in Milan, New York and during the Mexican Design Week.

Ben Medansky, США. Ben Medanski is a ceramist. Born in Arizona, studied at the Chicago Art Institute. After moving to Los Angeles in 2010, Ben collaborates with Shio Kusaka and Haas brothers. Since the start of Ben Medansky Ceramics, the designer has relied on exclusives, having collaborated with Herman Miller, Bergdorf Goodman and world-renowned interior designer Kelly Westler. He went to the experiment, imitating powerful forms and brutal structures made of fragile material. All objects are limited editions, designed and manufactured by hand in the Ben Medansky workshop in downtown Los Angeles.

Guilherme Wentz, Brazil. After graduating from the University of Caxias do Sul, a 28-year-old designer practices in Sao Paulo. Guillerm Wentz opened his own design studio, received many national awards. Collaborating with a large pool of Brazilian design companies such as Lumini, for which he presented a special series of 10 gold-plated lamps with chrome trim, Guillerm won another ıF Design Award.

Javier Gomez, Panama. An artist and photographer from Panama, Javier Gomez lives and works in New York. Gomez is famous for his series of photographs of urban architecture and organic matter, fractal abstractions and kaleidoscopes. Prints transferred to the decor of bed linen. Gomez’s high-profile client list includes Fendi Casa, Bvlgari, Cassina. It is bought by Hilary Swank, Bill Clinton, Pele, private collectors. Gomez is developing a line of carpets and furniture, which should be launched in 2016.

Samuel Amoia, USA. New Yorker Samuel Amoy is highlighted for the use of luxurious natural materials (tourmalines, malachites, onyx) materials and innovative methods in furniture production. Amoyya actively practices interior design: designed for influential developer Jan Schrager and works in conjunction with interior designer Steven Stills. Amoy is currently designing a restaurant in Miami, an art gallery on Madison Avenue. His clients are Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein and Peter Marino.
