Glass, mirrors, lacquered wood, silk wall-paper fabric wallpaper in addition to the purely stylistic solve an important functional task: by reflecting the light, they increase the illumination. This is important if the room is very shaded or, like this house, is located in northern latitudes, where there is little a priori sun. (And if on the contrary, in the south, you should look at the matte textures.)

The relationship of the interior with the environment is a fashionable theme in interior design. Metal, glass, modern forms are the answer to the interior of the modern architecture of the house, and classical columns, rich textile decor, mirrors and polished marble are a stylistic curtsey towards the Catherine Palace (the house is not far from Tsarskoe Selo).
