Brian Ling, the leading designer of the NAKAMICHI company, told in an interview to the magazine SALON-interior, where the artist comes from and why the technique can be like an antique sculptureSALON: Music systems and home theaters in each house are installed differently, depending on the wishes of the customer or the designer's intention. In your opinion, how best to place the equipment in the interior? “We strive for perfection in all aspects, but the most complete idea of endless improvement is the ability to express design. Someone, of course, prefers to hide the technique, but I believe that our speakers are simply created in order to be the center of attention. We even believe that for our customers, appliances can be a means of self-expression. Technique is like an antique statue, which is beautiful both by itself and as a precious completion of a modern interior composition.S: How important are the acoustic characteristics of the room for the operation of the equipment? - This is one of the issues to be treated with special attention. Of course, the better the acoustics of the room where the audio equipment is located, the better the sound. But it is clear that creating an acoustically perfect space is a very difficult and not always feasible task. Therefore, both in electronics and in engineering, there are solutions that allow not only to improve the sound quality, but also to simplify the adaptation of the system to the room.S: How do you manage to create such successful design products in an area where competition is very strong? - Design is a very important thing, but success lies not only in it. Design is only part of a single development process, and it is precisely in the integrity of this process, in parallel study of all aspects of the production of equipment, that the know-how lies. Designers manage the process of creating a new product down to the smallest detail. We strive to ensure that in every line, in every detail, the products correspond to what I would say in the following words: beauty of form, clarity of sound and perfection of electronics. Working on the design of new models, on the one hand, we rely on our own design traditions, on the other hand, we draw inspiration from the forms of nature, in the Bauhaus style and even in the Shinto heritage.
