New restaurant "Chaika" in the center of Moscow, architect Andrey Tsygankov made in the best traditions of modern classics ...

“The two-storeyed mansion, where the Amphitheater restaurant used to be, was repainted gray and shielded with“ orange chopsticks, ”says Andrey Tsygankov. - The inner space had to be completely redone. We moved the entrance, removed the narrow staircase, demolished the outer wall and installed large display windows. The room became bright and "transparent". Every visitor can interpret the name “Seagull” in his own way - all the attributes for this are there: in one of the halls there is a Chekhov bust, photographs of “seagull” cars hang on the walls ... There are two halls in the restaurant. The first can be called democratic, it is more like a cafe. The second one is more pretentious, with a huge dome in the center. It is through him that I zoned the space. Along the perimeter, we installed wooden sloping beams that symbolize the sun's rays. These beams are pure decoration. Those who love air and space can sit in the center of the room. And those who prefer solitude - at the window. Zoning a room using ceiling levels was new and interesting for me. I deliberately did not use partitions that "eat up" the square. There is in the "Seagull" and pseudo-library. Our photographer went to antique bookstores and photographed the roots of old books. Then we transferred them to prints, and it turned out very unusual and with humor. By the way, this library area can be completely closed and a scene can be made at this place. ” The kitchen in the "Seagull" chef calls the new European. Here, many dishes are prepared on the grill. For example, baked carpaccio: thinly sliced marbled beef is baked with eggplants and cheese and served on an open fire.
