Two-light space, free layout, designer furniture and art objects - this is the architect’s penthouse recipe Elena Konovalova

Today it is difficult to imagine that the history of this radiant whiteness of open space began with the wishes of the customer to make a traditional interior in a brown-beige palette. “My customer is a very talented person, highly educated and quite conservative,” says the author of the project. Elena Konovalova. - Discussing with him the appearance of the future apartment, I suggested that he temporarily move away from the original idea (I wanted the interior to be more open and joyful by nature) and look more closely at another classics, namely the minimalism classics. This style, in my opinion, is ideal for the design of a penthouse. With it, you can emphasize all the advantages of this type of room - two lights, open space, views from the windows. ” For a two-level penthouse layout is quite traditional. On the first level, to the right of the hall, there is a soft living area, to the left - a kitchen, right - a dining room. All of them are located in one flowing space, from where a view opens onto the glass-covered gallery of the second floor-library. We decided to use white as the base color and add individual red objects as accents. In combination with white, the natural color of teak parquet and golden onyx is very good (onyx slabs decorate the sofa area of the living room on the first floor and the bedroom on the second). The floor in the hall and bathrooms is lined with marble with bright natural patterns. Natural materials with beautiful textures are presented here very effectively and in accordance with the best traditions of European eco-minimalism. A man with a good imagination can see the clouds in a unique pattern of onyx panels. This decorative theme is supported by the paintings of the modern Swiss master Stefan Spiecher.

The sensation of light, air, space is emphasized by the glass gallery of the second floor and thoughtful local lighting. The only dark thing in the interior of the first floor is a fireplace with a black lacquer finish.

Project author Elena Konovalova:“Almost all the rooms of the penthouse are light, the bathrooms are dark. The alternation of white and dark gives a beautiful rhythm to space. Accessories - shiny metal vases and a mink blanket - bring a touch of glamor to this respectable interior, which looks fresh and optimistic, as was intended
