In 1993, Patrick Drenert became the Olympic champion in rapier fencing. Now he is engaged not in fencing, as in management. Patrick leads the company Draenertwhich specializes in the production of exclusive stone tables

Patrick Drenert and his family will soon move from a two-level apartment to a new house designed by architect Rainer Steinke. Head of the company DRAENERT enthusiastically talks about how the stone will be laid floor in the new house. “Probably, there the floors will be lined with Brazilian slate. Here we used travertine. This stone has a very nice color, close to the color of the sand. But, frankly, I want to try something else,” explains the hero of our rubric. Stone Patrick enjoys professionally: DRAENERT in the production of furniture uses more than 250 types of stone from different parts of the world.

However, the company makes furniture not only from stone, but also from glass, metal and wood. Patrick set some of his favorite factory items at home. For example, in the dining room on the first floor there is an oak table "1215 Salem" from designer Dietmar Joester. “My wife and I thought that when there are children in the house, it’s better to put a wooden table. Yet wood is a very warm, very pleasant to the touch material,” explains Patrick. And in the living room on the second floor there is a glass coffee table Klassik, which was designed by Peter Drenert. "Despite the fact that my father came up with it 40 years ago, it still looks modern. It is one of the best coffee tables on the market," said Patrick.

In Germany, Peter Drenert was known not only as a businessman and designer, but also as a collector of art objects. He collected paintings by contemporary artists and was friends with famous designers. In 1985, Peter released the limited edition bureau F1, designed by his friends - designers from Frankfurt. Thus began the collection of designer furniture Artefakte. Now these items are in private collections and are expensive. "One client told me that the Europa steel sofa from Ron Arad, released in 1994, now costs more than 150,000 euros," says Patrick.

The current owner of the factory from all projects DRAENERT most like the last one - the sliding stone table Dining Desk, made in collaboration with the kitchen company POGGENPOHL. "This table is very functional. For example, it has a built-in panel for heating coffee. I dream that I will have a lot of space in the kitchen and I can finally put it in my own house," Patrick dreams.
