In the French medieval castle, recently transformed into a hotel, native atmosphere was preserved. The castle was slightly modernized, but the atmosphere of six centuries history is still felt in every corner of this cozy, comfortable residence.

The southeastern region of France, Provence, has long attracted people of blue blood, creative personalities and all sorts of conquerors. In the relatively recent past, just two centuries ago, one of the most expensive artists at the moment, Vincent van Gogh, lived here, worked and went crazy. A few centuries earlier, it was here that Nostradamus made predictions. If you delve into history, you can remember that at one time the Romans owned this area, and before them the Greeks, who founded the city of Marseille in the VII century BC.

The French aristocracy could not ignore such a historically saturated place. It is no coincidence that it was here in the middle of the 16th century that King Henry II, the famous French warrior from the Valois dynasty, built a hunting residence for his beloved Diana de Poitiers. Since then, the castle periodically changed its owners, but they were all exclusively of aristocratic origin. In 1623 it was acquired by Henri de Massillan (Henry de Massillan), whose name has been bearing the castle ever since. At the end of the 19th century, several owners of the Massillan clan gave way to representatives of the Godemari family (Gaudemaris). At the end of the 20th century, he passed from them to the current owners, Peter Wylly and Birgit Israel, who heads the British design studio Babylon design Ltd. Now, at the beginning of the XXI century, and you can become the owner of this castle, turned into a luxury hotel. True, for a limited period of time. For example, you can celebrate your wedding here or meet the New Year. The castle hotel will comfortably accommodate guests and organize a magnificent festive table.

Peter and Birgit personally led the creation of a new look of the castle hotel. They decided to translate the story on the rails of the XXI century and tried to fit the designer objects from our days into the medieval interior. Especially for the design of the castle studio Babylon design Ltd. created a number of new models of furniture and light.

Each of the thirty-odd hotel rooms is unique. Modern designer items coexist with the furnishings of the XVIII century. Among the latter - crystal chandeliers on oil fuel and antique mirrors. Antique furniture upholstered in new silk fabric and velveteen. Next to the ancient copies of the chairs and beds is a classic already 50s of XX century.

The castle is surrounded by a garden of 24 acres. Olive trees and cypress trees grow here. The hotel has a lake, on which, as is customary in noble houses, snow-white swans swim.
