In the coastal countries, shells served everything — money, a musical instrument, and a decorative element. Their images can be found on frescoes from the Cretan palaces and on Greek vases. They are full of Roman mosaics and paintings of the Renaissance. In the 17th century, huge nautilus shells were at a great price. They were perceived as a jewel, framed in gold and decorated with precious stones. Often they were used as cups, as it was believed that such beauty rejects poisons. And, of course, they were associated with wealth, because not many could afford to overseas curiosity.
In short, the motive for culture is not new. In the subject design of the shell now and then come into fashion. In part, this is a seasonal phenomenon: the maritime theme is relevant primarily in the summer. Partly - a matter of taste and personal preferences. If the interior is designed in the Mediterranean style, you can not do without seashells. They are increasingly being used as a finishing element: pillows are embroidered with shells, encrusted dressers and mirrors.
The classic shape of a shell in the form of a curl is associated with harmony; the sound of the waves, which you hear, if you attach a conch to your ear, is fascinating. In the interior, such moods are good for the bathroom. How can you not relax, remembering the gentle sea breeze!
