There are expensive watches, expensive cars, expensive homes. But there are dear people, dear memories. And no wonder there is an expression "more precious than gold." After all, for someone a cheap thing may be more valuable than a Picasso painting, a new yacht or a Maybach made to order. There are people who cherish not things, but principles. And there are those for whom things are dear, a nominal expression of status. In this issue of Platinum World Magazine, we asked famous people to talk about the most expensive things in the interior. And they did not specifically specify the meaning of the word "expensive"

Jacopo Etro head of the company Etro

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- My feet collection. I began to collect the feet of statues in my youth, when I was studying in England at the London School of Economics. Now in my collection already 20 feet of different periods.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- I really liked the Amanpuri hotel in Phuket Thailand. It is beautifully located, and it has the right interior layout: there are beautiful gardens everywhere, and virtually every room has access to a small private pool. Everywhere there is the highest quality. So, the floors and doors are made of beautifully treated wood. And textiles designed in the ethnic range of purple and burgundy are the colors that create a peaceful, elegant atmosphere. In addition, the hotel has excellent service. When I was at the hotel, I had the feeling that I was visiting friends.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- I love the mix of classic and modern styles. In my house, European rarities of the 15th-16th centuries coexist with Chinese ritual hats of the 19th century, which were given to newborns to scare away evil spirits, objects of African art and modern design.

Charles KeitorChristie's International Acting Chairman

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- I appreciate the things that cause a sentimental response in my soul. For example, I have a mahogany writing desk at my home, made at the end of the 18th century. I bought it in the early 90s from my grandmother’s family. It has very simple lines, so that it can be put even in a modern interior. I appreciate him for being very comfortable, with beautiful proportions - a real example of design, timeless and excellent quality woodwork.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- I really liked the interior of the Ara Pacis museum in Rome. There, architect Richard Meier built a glass building around an ancient Roman altar. I came to Rome at the invitation of Valentino, who celebrated the 45th anniversary of his career as a designer and gave an exhibition of his works on this subject. I liked the museum itself and the exhibition.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- I live in the house of 1830 and respect its architecture. At the same time I like the mixture of old and modern. I like the work of the XVIII century architect John Soone, at the same time collecting modern ceramics and paintings by contemporary artists.

Dorit Mousaviifhead of the company Moussaieff Jewellers, первая леди Исландии

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- God, I will not answer the question that will lead all the robbers of the world to my house! But I can tell you that the most precious thing to me. This is an exclusive Russian edition of Icelandic sagas with a cover, covered with a seal skin, which was presented to me by my close friend from Russia.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- I really like the interior of the boutique hotel 101 Hotel in Reykjavik. Very modern, but at the same time comfortable interior. And a lot of different textures - from cement to fur, glass, wood, leather. Tactile effect is important to me. In general, sensual impressions are as important to me as visual ones. True, this hotel opened three years ago.

From this year’s hotels, I can single out Le Richemond in Geneva - it has just opened after restoration. It has a very impressive interior, luxurious and very comfortable (user friendly).

- What interior style do you like and why?

- A mixture of things of a certain level and that which suits my taste. It can be English style, French, Italian, Russian, Arabic, archaeological finds from the Middle East - anything.

Gianni Bulgarifounder of the jewelry brand Enigma

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- Perhaps the sculptures and paintings of Maine Ray. surrealism. I do not know how much these items cost now. More important for me is that I still like them. Although bought them 30 years ago, these works still cause a response in my soul.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

“Maybe my answer will seem offensive to you, but my favorite public interior is the Enigma boutique in Rome on via Margutta, 61a.” I myself have invented this interior and consider it the most incredible jewelry salon in the world. It embodies the philosophy of my whole life and my company.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- XX century style. I believe that the 20th century was the most incredible period in the history of mankind. Incredibly wild and cruel, but at the same time amazingly creative. The attractiveness of the 20th century is that it synthesizes the entire history of mankind. Both in my home and in my boutique I tried to reflect the artistic history of the last hundred years of humanity from the modern era to the present day.

Pavel Lungin producer

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- Almost all the furniture that stands in my house, I inherited from my parents. This is a real antique furniture, old mahogany. And each piece of interior is dear to me in my own way - be it a chest of drawers or a sofa ... But most of all I, of course, love the bed, because the bed is my nest. There I rest, I think.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- I really remember the style of La Casa restaurant at Chistye Prudy, but I can’t say exactly why. I never analyze why this or that interior.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- I love different styles: high-tech, classic and ethnic. I do not have any particular preferences at all. Like, say, no favorite movie, favorite song or favorite book. I just like a variety of beautiful things, whatever styles they belong to.

Paul Fuchs Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCG

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- In my house, I appreciate every thing of the interior, because I carefully selected every detail myself. Accordingly, in my own way every thing is dear - from curtains to paintings. But most of all I like steam fireplaces from a French castle of the 18th century, which I acquired a few years ago at an auction in Paris.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- Honestly, I would single out the interior of the five-star hotel Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Arabic in myself, take a cold shower.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- I can say which interiors I liked not last year, but in general. In London, a very unusual little hotel The Halkin on Halkin Street. I also like the hotel Widder in Zurich. There is a very unusual interior - in a modern style, but with elements of classics, ar deko and Tyrolean motifs. Both hotels like the fact that they are non-standard, they have their own style, pleasant atmosphere.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- I have long chosen a style that, and realized that it was Art Deco. Classic style is not mine, I don't like modern style either. But Art Deco like. I like the noble color of burgundy, fawn colors, I like comfortable furniture - sofas and armchairs - in the Art Deco style.

Claudio Lutithe head of the company Kartell

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- I love not things in themselves, but combinations of things. Especially the combination of real antiques with transparent plastic furniture. For example, in my living room is a large French antique table of the 18th century, and around it are the famous Louis Ghost armchairs by Philippe Starck.

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- Hotel in the classical style of Villa d'Este on Lake Como, I am its co-owner. Likewise, Bauer in Venice is a modern hotel, created in the building of the XVIII century. By the way, Louis Ghost armchairs also stand in its interiors. And finally, the hotel Splendido in Portofino - it is there that I try to get out for the weekend to have a good rest.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- I prefer the classic style, but when the interior combines antiques and designer items with modern forms and made of new materials. I am a fan of modern art and design, so I surround myself with things that have the spirit of innovation.

Aras AgalarovPresident of the Crocus International holding

- What is the most expensive thing in the interior of your house?

- I have no such things. I generally do not attach to things. I have a simple apartment. When I built my house (Agalarov House Residence on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya. - PWM), tried to make it comfortable. I almost didn’t work on the interior of my apartment, so I left everything at the 1997 level. Everyone understands everything. Who should I surprise? Not the very same yourself!

- What public interior has made a particularly strong impression on you this year?

- Honestly, I did not notice anything special. I look at the interiors professionally. If something hooked, find out why. And when you figure it out, the interior already seems uninteresting.

Один из любимых общественных интерьеров - холл "Консерватория" (Conservatory&Botanical Gardens. - PWM) at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. It is decorated with flowers, there is a winter garden and the interior itself is constantly changing. I built my Crocus City Mall under the impression of this place.

- What interior style do you like and why?

- neoclassical. In the museum, in the old-fashioned style, I do not want to live. There are many houses in neoclassical style in America. This is not a classic style in its purest form. Suppose there are columns with capitals, but capitals are not made according to the book of orders. Arches, columns and other architectural elements are present, but they are made in a more modern manner.
