Oksana Kashenko: How was your club name born? Why KitchCock?

Grigory Petrushin: At first we thought to call "Hitchcock", by the name of the director, whom we love very much. But in this case, the name would be obliged to make some kind of cinema history. Suddenly, instead of Hitchcock, Dima said KitchCock. And it all came together.

OK.: How would you describe your club?

G.P .: Before us in the city there was no a la British pub-bar-restaurant, and even music. We were lucky, because in the full spring of 2008 we felt that the club needs to be done without Moscow glamor. And, it seems to me, we hit the mark.

Dmitry Ashman: Yes, Moscow has already become accustomed to making palaces from restaurants and clubs. And this is not a palace, it looks like a rock musician’s apartment.

OK.: As I recall, there was a cafe "Marika". Is it difficult to make a new place in a legendary place? Or was it a calculation?

G.P .: There was no calculation. Moreover, when the burden of success of the previous club hangs over you, the risk is very great. And the responsibility is big. Because properly reincarnated institutions are not so many. But here we already had the experience (referring to the club The Most. - SALON).

OK.: What did you come up with for the restaurant?

G.P .: We decided to make a New York menu, and we have a good cook. In Moscow institutions there is no culture of sandwiches. And in New York there. And we also have very tasty sandwiches. And in general, the menu is very interesting, and, most importantly, very tasty.

OK.: Upstairs I noticed an unusual picture ...

G.P .: This is Petr Aksenov. Our club is not just a place to come for a drink, we came up with some kind of art-story. Once or twice a month we hold exhibitions of photographers and artists. Now Aksenov, before this Arseny Vlasov, then Mikhail Korolev. We decided to update not the interior, but the paintings in it. Sometimes we even buy them directly from the walls.

OK.: Who was the architect of the club?

G.P .: All the same Inna Kudina, we are opening the third club with her. And for them I am not ashamed. The first club is in Nizhny Novgorod - Z-Top, it is very good, we opened it three years ago. Last summer, Golden Beach was opened in Yalta with chic, and now KichCock.

OK.: What furniture did you order here?

G.P .: We built KichCock in three months and got into the budget. Italian things bought a little, mostly chosen among Russian manufacturers.

OK.: What did you do with the walls?

G.P .: We cleaned them, laid out our own brick, then found the mortgaged windows, knocked out this masonry - it turned out to be an interesting solution. Cast iron ladder at the entrance left. Inside, too, I wanted to make a similar staircase, but it was already difficult. But they found some kind of battery factory, and they made it there.

YES.: If the original idea is good, then the cost is unimportant. It can be well built expensive, but it can be cheap and well built.

OK.: What was the idea behind?

G.P .: The idea of ​​this place is that you can come here right after the restaurant or even instead of the restaurant: first eat and then stay to dance. It annoys me in Moscow that you need to go to the club at 2 in the morning. What, I ask, should I do after I left the restaurant at 10 pm? You can come to us at 10 and 11 pm, and at 2 o'clock, go home. Or stay to dance until the morning.

OK.: It is believed that it is very difficult to make the restaurant be combined with the club.

G.P .: I think we did it. Here you can eat, and dance, and just relax. In fact, we took the example from Europe: there are clubs where you can come to dance, or you can just come to eat and relax. This is Sketch Bar in London, China White, Biblos ...

YES.: From the point of view of restaurant interiors, I was surprised by Lisbon, a fantastic city. I went there in one restaurant, met with the owner. And he says to me: “Come in the evening, I will introduce you to Catherine Deneuve”. Well, I think, what is Catherine Deneuve in Lisbon, in a restaurant with a funny interior? .. But came out of curiosity. I sat at a table, I looked at the next Catherine Deneuve, and Ronaldo was far away ...

G.P .: On the subject of interiors we have a favorite story. In Paris, there is a club called "Banduk". Do not get there: strict face-control. And inside the brick walls and shops, stolen from the nearest square. The interior can not be called at all. Another disappointment - the megaclub in London, called "Tantra", also does not fall. Dolph Lundgren is sitting at the table. The interior is monstrous and painted in white paint. There is no more terrible place, but fashionable. Moscow is a wonderful city in this respect: we have a very demanding consumer.

OK.: Will your club be fashionable for a long time?

G.P .: I think our concept is durable. In this interior there is at least self-irony. Have you seen our mushroom room, mushroom? There are tables in the form of fly agarics.

OK.: And gold ceilings? Yes, I saw. Do you think the customer should be involved in creating the interior?

G.P .: Creating an interior is an opportunity to express oneself. When a person trusts the architect entirely, it seems to me to be wrong, because it is not the architect who then lives there. Therefore, in spite of everything, I am sure that the owner of the house should be involved in its creation. The interior should not be a demonstration of money, it is created for life.

OK.: But there are people for whom the most important thing in the interior is to demonstrate its significance.

G.P .: I believe that if a person has a normal interior, then he and everything inside is normal, and vice versa. The interior is a diagnosis.

OK.: What is luxury for you?

YES.: Free time. Luxury is not determined by money. It is a comfort, an opportunity to realize what you like.

G.P .: If we talk about luxury in the interior, then for me this is the Winter Palace. Here an important feature: style and luxury are often incompatible things, but in the Winter they are combined. If we talk about life, I agree with Dima: luxury is free time with the family.
