In the Bureau of Design and Decor English Interiors know all the subtleties of the English style. The new work by decorator Irina Motorina is convincing of this.

Once in one of the salons of ENGLISH INTERIORS, the customer of this apartment decided that he wanted to design the interior in the English tradition. Moreover, the architecture of the house in which he settled, dictated the classic theme: a modern residential quarter with a landscape park and a pond built on the principle of a country estate of the 18th century with a belvedere, arched colonnades and loggias.

“Despite the fact that we decided on the style at the very beginning, each room required a separate solution,” says Irina. - For example, the owner's office is conservative-English, with leather furniture, an “eared” chair, antique engravings, and textiles in a cage. The guest room turned out to be a pastoral genre: a sentimental image of rural England was created here. In the rest of the rooms we played the American variation on the theme of the English style. And this is not a spontaneous decision, but a deliberate move related to the planning of the apartment. This project has an impressive footage. Combining the two apartments into one, we got a total area of 346 square meters. Add to this high ceilings (under 3.5 meters) and huge floor-to-floor windows, which due to redevelopment go out to both sides of the house. ”

Irina admits that she wanted to emphasize the scale and illumination of the apartment. Aesthetics of traditional English interior, based on the desire for a chamber, habitable space, filled with furniture and family rarities, seemed to her not quite appropriate. In the New World - other priorities: space and scale are valued here. American classics have their own characteristics: instead of wooden buazeri and tapestries, there are light walls with high glazing, instead of strict symmetrical compositions, a free arrangement of furniture.

“Each room has its own, original wall and ceiling decoration,” the decorator emphasizes. - So, in the nursery I wanted to create an atmosphere of eternal summer, so we chose paper wallpapers with a pattern in the shape of palm branches, and the floor was laid out with a parquet of delicate olive. In the living room and dining room they put parquet made of African wood dussie, in the master bedroom - walnut, in the guest room - oak. ” But the most extravagant coating - in the office.

“The customer certainly wanted the leather floor,” recalls Irina. - We chose a leather tile. It looks like parquet and therefore does not stand out from the general style. Just walking on soft skin, you know the difference! In general, the customer has set very specific tasks for us. For example, avoid right angles when planning. Look at the plan: partitions, as a rule, rounded. They demanded the installation of special, radial doors. In the corridor it was necessary to place several plasma screens, and in the hallway — a photo panel with the image of Manhattan. So the guests of this apartment, as once the colonists from Old England, are greeted by the panorama of the New World! ”
